WHAT MY VESSEL SAYS

“What My Vessel Says” is a series of vases that originated from the urge to take stories out of books and place them onto a table to be able to sit beside them. By engraving texts from literature into ceramics, the work resists the act of forgetting what has been read. The function of the vessel expands beyond its traditional use to become a space for language, a carrier of stories. Words move off the page and into the room. They can be seen, lived with, remembered, returned to, and inhabited. Stories are taken from closed objects and placed onto open ones. The vessel’s inherent role to carry, preserve, and transmit is reimagined as a way to hold and pass on narratives, again and again.
